Reasons to be Careful with Wind Leases- Recent Article Underscores Need for Counsel When Entering Into Real Estate Leases with Wind Developers

18 Jan

The front page headline of the January 12, 2010 edition of the StarTribune newspaper opened with a story regarding negative effects that certain wind turbines have had on neighboring property owners.  While the circumstances of every wind energy project differ, the story is a helpful reminder of some of the considerations that one needs to account for when considering leasing land for the construction of wind turbine activity.  With the assistance of legal counsel, you can hopefully structure the agreement as to placement of the turbines in such a manner as to avoid many of the problematic issues that are described in the story which can be found here.  Please contact the wind energy attorneys at Thomsen Nybeck if you are considering a wind turbine on your property.
